Vista Not Recognizing Ipod

Vista will not recognize my i. Pod . What happen to me was vista ask me if I wanted to format my ipod so it would work with vista like a dummie I said yes and from that time on it was not seen in my computer and in itunes. I ended up putting it on a new computer, when I installed itunes I plug in my ipod and this time itunes seen it and told me it was corruped, I was able to backup the music and videos I had on it to the new computer then I did a restore on the ipod and now all work good.
